DJ Power Rankings: Posso

The ladies of Posso, Vanessa Giovacchini and Marylouise Pels are California-bred, but set up shop in Vegas where they’ll be spinning at Commonwealth Saturday night. They started working together in high school on a fashion show, and haven’t looked back since, moving into the DJ world along the way. Finally: DJs who are way worse off wearing goofy headpieces.

Track This Week Last Week Notes
“Hit Da Flo” by Party Favor and Posso 1 NR This is our latest track that we made with our friend, the uber talented Party Favor. We love incorporating throwbacks in our club sets, and found ourselves playing the original “Lose Control” a lot, and couldn’t get over how current that Timbaland beat still sounds. It was so much fun to mess with and we’re stoked on the final product.
“Before Midnight” (Angger Dimas Remix) by Yolanda Be Cool 2 NR There’s some great remixes of this track out there, but this one kinda has everything we’re looking for out of a hard-hitting big room track: a sensual and interesting (non-cheesy) vocal, unexpected transitions, and wild drop that gets the crowd going.
“Dumb, Horny People” by Hatiras 3 NR We’re both suckers for a good sax line–this track has that classic house vibe with unexpected subtle twists and a pitched down vocal, which we love. This is our go-to transitional track for taking the crowd up to next level. No one can resist that sax.
“Pour It Up” (Jay Dabhi Bootleg) by Rihanna 4 NR This track is actually a mashup with Ri-Ri and a huge classic house record from the ’90s “Push The Feeling On” by Nightcrawlers. Please peep the YouTube video link of the original–it has a cool 8 mil plus views. You’ll also hear a sax line on the original that Ptibull sampled for “Hotel Room Service.” Go and give Jay Dabhi some love on this one.
“You & Me” (Flume Remix) by Disclosure
5 NR I mean–orchestral dub step? Yes, please. I feel like my heart is getting played like a harp when this comes on. If you haven’t heard of Flume go and listen to everything he’s made, please. Respect.

Last week: 1.) “Gossip” by WeRWolvz. 2.) “Chattahooche” by Like Mike & Dimitri Vegas. 3.) “Jump!” by Henry Fong, Mike Hawkins, Pablo Oliveros. 4.) “Dirty Iron Man” by Felix Zaltaio & Lindh Van Berg. 5.) “Puzzle” by Quintino & Blasterjaxxx.
