The don of New York’s Altamarea restaurant group may soon be coming to Las Vegas, sources tell Vegas Seven. We first heard the rumor about the Michelin-starred Michael White, who operates nearly a dozen of Manhattan’s best Italian eateries, several weeks ago, and it popped up again at this week’s L.A. Food & Wine Festival.
“I’ve heard he just signed a lease agreement for a space inside the Crystals,” another famous chef shared. Requests for comment from Crystals PR were not immediately returned, but we’re willing to bet that if White does indeed open in Sin City he would replicate Marea, his Italian-inspired seafood haunt on Central Park South.
Also overheard at the festival: The Cosmopolitan’s Chris Hopkins shared that the casino resort routinely overhauls its liquid menu, and that he and fellow property mixologist Mariena Mercer will be rolling out new libations at all of the property’s bars over the next six to 12 weeks.

Update: After this story was published, we heard from Altamarea Group spokesperson Olivia Young, who said the restaurant group has no plans to open in Vegas at this time.
