Being a man who designs women’s swimwear is no easy feat, but Syrup Swimwear’s Aaron Fust is up to the task. Fust grew up in Las Vegas, and many of his friends went into the nightlife industry. So when pool clubs hit the scene about a decade ago, he had a perfect perspective on the new sector—and the opportunities it presented. “Rehab started [at the Hard Rock Hotel], but there was nothing cool to wear,” Fust says. He decided to fix that, drawing inspiration from his travels, learning the basics of engineering swimwear and creating a new local brand.
His specialty is durable, sexy two-piece suits. “Being from Vegas gives me access to all the pools, which means seeing girls from all over the world,” he says. “I am able to spot the trends, but also know how to create suits that the girls can wear comfortably.”
Fust began showcasing his designs in 2007 at Ghostbar at the Palms. From there, other venues came calling. Now Syrup doubles as an event company, hosting parties for Tao Group and holding various fashion shows throughout the city. Fust parlayed this success into retailing Syrup at some of the Strip’s biggest boutiques—Terrene at Aria and DNA2050 at Cosmopolitan. SyrupSwimwear.com.
