Having some of the biggest records playing in Las Vegas nightclubs over the past five years definitely benefited Kid Cudi at the Boulevard Pool. Songs such as “The Pursuit of Happiness” and the David Guetta-shared “Memories” had patrons twerking themselves into a frenzy. The Grammy Award-winning MC (and my favorite actor from HBO’s defunct How to Make It in America) exuded an energy that emanated through the poolside area as he strolled across the stage. Hardcore Cudi fans rocked to “Soundtrack 2 My Life” and “Just What I Am,” which saw the 29-year-old slow his set down and spit the lyrics to some of his more introspective, underground records. “Day ’n’ Nite” restored the energy to a 10 as Cudi prompted the audience to sing his lyrics and scream on cue. Because of his catalog of records, that wasn’t a difficult task. ★★★☆☆
