Where were you in ’82? Cruising the Strip in your Trans Am, Foreigner blaring from the speakers, or in revolt against the sellouts who listened to such mainstream trash? If you count yourself among the latter, be at MCQ Fine Art, 620 S. 7th St., today from 6-9 p.m. for the Art of Las Vegas Hard Core, a display of classic posters announcing hard-core punks in town back in the day.

If you’ve ever wanted to hit Springs Preserve or the Nevada State Museum but were put off by the admission price, then today is your day. As part of the statewide Nevada Day celebrations this week, admission to attractions is free today.

Hot-air balloons are marvelous things to see in person, and this weekend is the time to do it. The second annual Hot Air Balloon Festival and Carnival started yesterday and runs through tomorrow at Southern Hills Hospital, 9300 W. Sunset Rd. In addition to the balloons, you’ll find entertainment, food, games and demonstrations by the Metro Search and Rescue Unit. Tickets for hot-air balloon rides are $250 per person;
