Dr. Seuss Dinner Makes Mealtime Rhyme

Oh, the things you’ll eat! Embers Grille & Spirits’ dinner series continues with “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” a Dr. Seuss-themed event, October 28. Executive chef Aaron Klafter-Phillips’ five-“Thing” (course) affair is inspired by the words and creatures thought up by American children’s book writer Theodor Seuss Geisel, and begins with Thing 1: Spanish Green Egg and Ham Croque Madame.

The restaurant will be transformed into a Dr. Seuss “wonderland,” with cocktails created by the general manager/lead bartender Howard Sambler accompanying each dish, including Thing 2, an ode to The Cat in the Hat by way of a Caprese salad of heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella with micro-basil and balsamic.

Thing 3 interprets One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish as yellowtail sashimi, scallop and shrimp ceviche, red snapper with red curry foam and blue crab cake. Tuck into Roast Beast with Who Hash for Thing 4 entrée, then bring it home with Thing 5, a Yertle Deconstructed Turtle Tower. It’s topped, of course, with a bourbon-soaked cherry. Because this is a serious dinner for serious adults … Just kidding: costumes encouraged!

$50 per person, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28, Embers Grille & Spirits, 740 S. Rampart Blvd., Suite 7, 778-2160.
