With both the Homegrown stage and the Red Bull Sound Select stage, local bands will have a big presence at Life Is Beautiful. What will they be doing when they aren’t playing? Watching live music, of course. Here’s what the festival’s local performers can’t wait to see:
“Please, I’m a Vegas girl. The Killers and Imagine Dragons all the way! Also, ZZ Ward is one of my very favorite artists. I listen to and sing her songs every day and am super honored to be playing on the same bill as her.” – Jordan Kate Mitchell, performing at 3:45 p.m. Sunday on the Homegrown Stage.
“I’m most excited to see Jurassic 5 because they broke up, now they’re back together, and I never thought I’d get to see them live. Another is Portugal. The Man because they’re from Alaska, and I’m [originally] from Alaska.” – Jerry Wayne, MC for RNR, performing at 4 p.m. Saturday on the Red Bull Sound Select Stage.
“Earl Sweatshirt’s first performance in Vegas should be interesting. His new album Doris is different—weird and emotional—I like that. Joey Bada$$ has a huge buzz in the hip-hop world right now, and you’d be a fool to miss his set. I really dig Childish Gambino and Danny Brown, so those two for sure. Main Stage acts: Jurassic 5 is a no-brainer, and I’ve never seen Beck live so that’s going to be awesome.” – DJ Zo, performing at 1:40 and 3 p.m. Saturday on the Heartland/Red Bull MXT Truck stage.
“I’m very excited to see a lot of the hip-hop acts like Earl Sweatshirt, Childish Gambino, Danny Brown and Joey Bada$$. It would be so great to work with Earl someday. I’m also looking forward to seeing a childhood favorite of mine, the Killers, and then dancing like a mad man to Zedd’s set. There are so many amazing acts to choose from! It’s going to be a beautiful weekend.” – Sabriel, performing at 6:35 p.m. Sunday on the Homegrown Stage.
“I’m most excited to see Twenty One Pilots. They’re one of my all-time favorite bands, and their live performance is insane. I also really wanted to see ZZ Ward, because she’s absolutely amazing. Unfortunately due to scheduling I have to miss it so somebody please take some Instagram video! Joey Bada$$ is going to kill it, and I really can’t wait to see my friends in RNR rock that stage. Their performance is on another level.” – Ekoh, performing at 2:45 p.m. Saturday on the Red Bull Sound Select Stage.
“Beck’s music has had a huge influence on me as a producer and musician. I jump on any chance I get to see him live. Haim’s new album is currently on repeat for me and I’m excited to see them perform. I love their production and super-syncopated vocals. Purity Ring has an interesting stage design/tech setup that, when paired with their music, makes for a really fun live show.” – Brett Bolton of Kid Meets Cougar, performing at 9:55 p.m. Sunday on the Homegrown Stage.
“I just love Purity Ring. I’ve seen them three times already, and it never gets old. Empire of the Sun—I heard they have a really cool live show, so I’m looking forward to that. Wallpaper is nostalgic for me; Love Pentagon (a band I was in awhile back), and Kid Meets Cougar played with them a few times. They always have a great live performance.” – Courtney Carroll of Kid Meets Cougar.
“I’m excited to see the Killers. Heard it might be their last show, and I love an onstage fistfight.” – Roxie Amoroso of Crazy Chief, performing at 6 p.m. Saturday on the Homegrown stage.
