Hakkasan Ltd. has confirmed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Enlightened Hospitality, which operates San Diego’s Stingaree Nightclub and owns former Top Chef contestant Brian Malarkey’s restaurant consortium, including Searsucker in San Diego, Del Mar and Austin, and Herringbone in San Diego and Los Angeles. Word of the $28 million deal was first reported by Eater LA last month and reps for Enlightened tell us that Hakkasan’s stake in the company is 51 percent, noting they have taken complete control of the San Diego club.

Sources close to the project have indicated that the idea is to funnel clientele from both Southern California markets to the megaclub here in Las Vegas. Together the groups will celebrate the launch of Enlightened’s seafood-centric Herringbone brand in L.A.’s Mondrian hotel on Thursday.
