What is the single, most important change for us poor, fat, lazy slobs to incorporate immediately?

The most important thing is to eat healthier. More veggies, less processed sugars and cut out the alcohol. You will notice results almost instantly.

What’s the No. 1 problem area both male and female clients request help with?

Both males and females want to get lean. Everybody wants a six-pack. It all comes down to diet. In order to get lean you have to cut out the garbage.

What’s harder to get rid of: bingo wings, back fat or muffin tops?

Muffin tops.

Is it true that vodka and soda is the best choice, calorie-wise, when it comes to alcoholic beverages? Also, if I already have a giant beer belly, how can I get rid of it?

If you’re going to drink, clear alcohol is best. The best way to get rid of a beer belly is to eat healthier and work out.

What is a big misconception about fad diets, workout programs or supplements?

Too many people do not want to work for their fitness, hence the reason why these supplementation and fat-loss pill industries are making billions of dollars off the promise of a quick fix. People see their favorite actor with abs, and think it’s easy. If it were easy, everybody would be ripped. Getting in movie-star/model shape requires discipline, hard work and focus. Period.

How does working with a personal trainer make a difference?

A personal trainer can dramatically improve your results and can create a customized program to help you achieve your goals. It is important to make sure that the trainer is certified, has proper insurance and has experience in the fitness field.

I really freakin’ hate working out. What can I do to make it more enjoyable?

Find something that interests you. Most gyms offer classes such as boxing, Pilates, spin or dance.

What muscle groups respond the quickest and experience the most noticeable difference in overall appearance of fitness? What is the best way to target them?

Spot reduction or targeting is only beneficial for those who are trying to be a body builder.
For the majority of people, as they get in better physical shape and increase their cardiovascular capacity, their whole body will noticeably start to look more fit.

What’s the biggest misconception people have regarding working with a trainer?

At the end of the day, the only person responsible for your body is you. Yes, a trainer can give you the tools to get in shape, but once a person has those tools, they have to have the discipline to stick it out and get to their goal.
