Not many things can truly bear the stamp “Made in Downtown Las Vegas,” but that’s about to change. Fashion incubator/design lab Stitch Factory, L.A.-based Chaser Brand Clothing and Las Vegas-based online store BungalowClothing.com have teamed up to create the first Made in Downtown Las Vegas competition.
Budding fashion designers are invited to submit their sketches for judging by April 10. Ten finalists will be selected to create a sample and show it on the runway during the Stitch Factory/BungalowClothing Summer Fashion Show on May 15. The winning design will be manufactured as part of Chaser’s Holiday 14 collection; it will be sold at boutiques around the world and exclusively online at BungalowClothing.com.
The contest was designed to foster the city’s fashion talent in a new way—while Las Vegas is known for its impressive retail, not much has been cultivated on the design and manufacturing side. “We need to push our local talent and young designers,” says Meital Bronstein, owner of BungalowClothing.com. “We want to show the design community that we have their back. We want them to succeed and manufacture their goods right here.”
