This Week’s Most-Wanted Events: Stripathon, Vagina Monologues

Inside the Ring

From bare-knuckle prizefighting to big-name battles on the Strip, Nevada’s history with boxing has had its bumps and bruises. Author Richard O. Davies explores our state’s fascination with the sport in his book The Main Event, and he’ll sign copies April 26 at the Mob Museum.

Smooth Jazz and the Stars

Now in its 22nd year, the Las Vegas City of Lights Jazz Festival fills Clark County Amphitheater with soulful sound April 25-27. Headliners include Crisette Michele, Kem, Joe and Chaka Khan. Should we mention how warm the weather is right now? That’s reason enough to spend your weekend outdoors.

No Clothes, No Problem

What sounds better: a marathon or a Stripathon? If you said the latter, you’re in luck. On April 26, Boomers Bar hosts a benefit for the Burlesque Hall of Fame. Stop by for performances, raffles and memorabilia signed by legendary ladies. Money raised supports the cost of the forthcoming Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in June.

Girl Talk

Inspire Theater presents Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues on April 24-26. The cast is comprised of members of the Las Vegas community, and the three performances benefit Shade Tree Women’s Shelter. Tickets are $10-$15 or $25-35 for the April 26 performance, a black-and-white gala featuring appetizers, a silent auction and cast meet-and-greet.
