Walter Kirn’s latest book, Blood Will Out (W. W. Norton, $26), is a memoir of Kirn’s 15-year relationship with “Clark Rockefeller,” an eccentric Manhattan banker who turned out to be a German-born imposter named Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter. In addition to duping Kirn, Gerhartsreiter was ultimately convicted of kidnapping and murder. The results are equal parts true crime and class study.
