Weekend Kombat: San Gennaro vs. Mother’s Day

Everybody has hard choices to make about how they’re going to spend their weekend. Some choices are harder than others. This week’s showdown: A celebration of all things Italian vs. a celebration of all things motherhood. FIGHT!

San Gennaro Mother’s Day
What: Food stands, as far as the eye can see. Brunch lines, as far as the eye can see. Advantage: San Gennaro.
When/where: The Target plaza at I-215 and Flamingo, through Sunday. Wherever she wants to go, Sunday. Advantage: Push.
Signature accomplishment: Sausage and peppers sandwiches. Giving you life. Advantage: San Gennaro. Look, that life would be kind of meaningless without sausage and peppers.
Gets you through the day: Sambuca shots. Brunch mimosas. Advantage: San Gennaro.
Also appearing: More than one musical act featuring the accordian. Your little sister trying to horn in on the credit for planning Mother’s Day, even though she didn’t do anything Advantage: Still, Mother’s Day.
If you don’t go: There’s another one in the fall. You’ll never live down the guilt. Or the passive-aggressive shame for the rest of your life. Advantage: Mother’s Day.
