Ah, Dole Whip: Falling on the texture spectrum between frozen yogurt and sorbet, the pineapple soft-serve dessert is refreshing, tangy, and inspires a cult-like following of what some fans have dubbed “Dole Whip Devotees.”
It’s a “frozen work of art,” Tom Bricker of DisneyTouristBlog.com says of the dessert, first popularized at Disney Parks. “Much like a dangerous narcotic, Dole Whips are incredibly addictive.”
Countless DIY Dole Whip recipes have cropped up online, along with dry mix packets, iPhone cases and air fresheners boasting a “magical pineapple ice cream scent.” And for your listening pleasure, there’s the Dole Whip Daily podcast.
While there’s a widely held misconception that authentic Dole Whip is only available at Disney Parks or the Dole plantation, Island Time Floats has doled it out for years at the Las Vegas Foodie Fest. And on August 1st, the Boulevard Mall will receive a permanent business dedicated solely to Dole Whip. A frozen haven for both fanatics and first-timers, Pineapple Park will offer the dessert in seven flavors (from classic to chocolate) and serve it in ways that Disney could only dream of: in a sundae, on top of cake, and even filling the inside of a whole cored pineapple. Is your mouth watering yet?
A second Pineapple Park location is expected to open by Halloween in the Fremont Street Experience, followed by a third in Fashion Show Mall. Until then, here are a few more places in the Valley where Dole Whip fans can make their dreams come true:
