Cinderella hits the Smith Center stage May 3.

The art complex Downtown Spaces is celebrating its second birthday April 25 with—yep, you guessed it—more art! Art exhibitions, a photo booth, DJs and a live mural painting are all parts of the creative space’s festivities. Las Vegas bands such as Ossum Possum and Shayna Rain and the Part Time Models provide the soundtrack while food truck Sausagefest supplies the munchies. There’s plenty of space to celebrate.

Flex your creative muscles at Commonwealth’s Uncommon Canvas. The series of Sunday night painting events kicks off April 26 under the direction of local artist and art studio owner Christina Ambubuyog. A $30 registration fee provides everything you need, including supplies and a Jameson Irish Mule to get those juices flowin’.

Reverend Eddie is delivering his final sermon entitled “Life Is Like a Basketball Game,” and you’re invited. Catch him in Onyx Theatre’s presentation of the hilariously thought-provoking Some Things You Need to Know Before the World Ends (A Final Evening With the Illuminati). Admission to the play, which runs through May 2, is granted upon presentation of a ticket. Admission to the secret society? We can’t tell you anything about that.

Who knew the woman in the glass slippers was a damned good singer? Well, at least she is in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical provides a contemporary take on the fairy tale. All your favorite parts are here: the pumpkin, the fairy godmother and the dance, with a twist. See it through May 3 at The Smith Center.
