Downtown beer outfit Banger Brewing will host a beer festival at its home in Neonopolis on May 23. The inaugural Locals Only Beer Festival ($25, 2-6 p.m., LocalsOnlyBeerFest.com) will easily live up to its name, showcasing the efforts of Nevada Craft Brewers Association members. Joining Banger in the suds fest are Barley’s, Hop Nuts, 777, Joseph James, CraftHaus, Bad Beat, Tenaya Creek, Big Dog’s, Chicago Brewery, Ellis Island, Old School, Gordon Biersch and Sin City brewing companies, as well as home brew outfitters Vegas Homebrew and SNAFU, the home brewers guild. The winner of the Best Home Brewer Contest will get to see their winning recipe produced on a commercial scale at Banger Brewing.

“This event will help bring awareness and respect to all of our amazing craft breweries and put Las Vegas, Nevada on the map for craft beer as well as pave the way for anyone else to come,” Banger co-owner Edward Quiogue says. There will also be live music, a DJ, food vendors including Hummus Factory, and a dunk-a-brewer tank. All proceeds from ticket sales and the dunk tank will go to support the Nevada Craft Brewers Association. seven_sips_and_bites_banner_03_1_
