When most 18-year-olds graduate from high school, they either start college or their first job. When Las Vegan Ricky Moreno turned 18, however, he emptied his savings account and took a solo backpacking trip through Europe. Now having traveled to 40 countries on four continents, Moreno still feels like he’s just getting started on his adventures.
His biggest adventure right now is winning the elusive title of Next Travel Channel Star. The three-part competition began with applicants submitting a video showing their travels and personality, and explaining why he or she would be a great Travel Channel guide. Finalists move on to an hour long special revealing the winner, who will be rewarded with a five-part web series.
After beating out thousands of applicants, Moreno has moved on to the final five. Marketing himself on his online bio, vows he won’t be that “foo-foo chef” or “pretentious tourist living the high life.” Moreno intends to get into the nitty-gritty and to take the risks most people would be afraid to—all while maintaining an accessible, Average Joe demeanor on a tight budget.
Moreno needs votes to advance to the final round. So show your Las Vegas pride and vote for him on the Travel Channel Star website or Tweet using the hashtag #TravelChannelStar.
