Jenny Lewis may be based in Los Angeles, but the Vegas native oozed her hometown vibe. The 39-year-old singer-songwriter channeled Frank Sinatra as she swaggered onstage with one hand in her pocket, and a drink in the other. She performed in front of a colorful, gaudy backdrop with cheesy graphics reminiscent of the Fremont Street Experience, and her stage presence took all the best parts of a Strip tribute show as she gyrated her hips like Michael Jackson and spun around like James Brown.

As expected, Lewis performed a number of Rilo Kiley songs including “Silver Lining” and a psychedelic, wah pedal-infused rendition of  “The Moneymaker.” But the songstress was at her best when it came to her whiskey-soaked Nashville rock numbers. She belted the chorus of “Slippery Slope” with a Southern twang and threw out roses when she serenaded the crowd during “She’s Not Me.” Lewis turned the venue into a giant ball pit by releasing dozens of huge balloons during the climax of “Love U Forever,” but it was just her, her acoustic guitar and fans during her final tune, “Acid Tongue.” Upon strumming the final chord, Lewis took an onstage selfie with opener Nikki Lane, proving she’s a great host, too. ★★★★✩
