In February 2013 we asked Chris Santos—who runs a number of Manhattan-based Tao Group outlets and serves as a judge on the Food Network show Chopped—if he could confirm the rumor that the group would be bringing its restaurant concept Beauty & Essex to Las Vegas. At the time, he was coy: “I can’t officially confirm that, but if that were to happen you might expect us to carry on similarly to how we have at Stanton Social and Beauty & Essex in New York. I go to Vegas all the time, and I love the Cosmopolitan. I gamble at the Cosmo; I stay at the Cosmo; I love the burgers at Holsteins; and the food at Jaleo. I should open a restaurant there someday.”
This morning, the Cosmopolitan confirmed that Beauty & Essex is indeed on its way, and that we can expect the Lower East Side haunt to debut in the former Comme Ça space in 2016, with neighbors including the aforementioned Jaleo as well as Milos, STK, Blue Ribbon and fellow Chopped judge Scott Conant’s Scarpetta and D.O.C.G. Expect a buzzy scene paired with prime cuts in a prime Strip-view location.
