With recent earning reports from Stockbridge Capital revealing significant losses, it should come as no surprise that some changes are in store for SLS. As such, multiple SLS executives have indicated that SBE’s Life Nightclub will shutter following Independence Day weekend, and that the resort will shift its nightlife programming endeavors to neighbor Foxtail. That’s not to say there won’t be a resurrection of Life on other big holiday weekends, however, with the room reopening for one-offs and special events in the style of Rain in the Palms.
“Life Nightclub is a valuable part of our overall program and is not closing,” says a representative for SLS. “It will remain a key part of our strategy to provide a more diversified range of entertainment to our increasingly broad customer base.”
As for Foxtail, we are told to expect a major production upgrade, as much of Life’s equipment will be moved over for an indoor/outdoor space modeled after Surrender in Wynn. And given Life’s recent success during the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight weekend, and with strong bookings for Lil Wayne on July 4, we would anticipate SBE will continue to pursue more open-format programming (club speak for hip-hop). This, sources say, will commence in early January, when many of the existing EDM DJs’ contracts are up.
Meanwhile, the Sayers Club, the third part of SLS’ nightlife puzzle, has added a comedy show to its Thursday-through-Saturday lineup, which also features live bands and the White Label Thursdays all-vinyl party.
