50 Cent Turns 40 at Drai’s, DJ Mustard’s On The Beat at Light

50 Cent.

Thursday, July 9

Have you heard Canadian duo Dzeko and Torres’ remix of Kygo’s “Firestone?” The pair gave the tropical house smash some big-room flavor with pounding drums and a massive leading melody. It’s a pretty stark contrast from the original. You can listen to both on SoundCloud and decide which one you like better. Or hear the upbeat remix in a proper “big room” when the pair drops it at Hakkasan. (In MGM Grand, 10:30 p.m., HakkasanLV.com.)

Friday, July 10

50 turned 40 on the 6th. OK, we’ll elaborate: New York rapper 50 Cent turned 40 years old on July 6, but tonight he’ll hit up Drai’s to celebrate four decades of life with a live performance. Now’s the time to actually hear “In Da Club” in the club! (At the Cromwell, 10:30 p.m., DraisNightlife.com.) In an interview with TimeOut.com.hk, Porter Robinson revealed that he throws away most of the music he writes. Given that fact, it’s not certain when we’ll hear the follow-up to 2014’s Worlds, but at least it’s in the works. Robinson’s slated to perform his live stuff at Life Is Beautiful in September, but for now, experience one of his classic DJ sets at Marquee. (In the Cosmopolitan, 10 p.m., MarqueeLasVegas.com.)

Saturday, July 11

It’s Saturday, so that means it’s time to turn up! Grab your favorite caffeinated beverage and head to Foxtail Pool for an all-day bender that begins with a set by the Stafford Brothers. The super fit Australian pair’s Instagram account is littered with photos of them swimming, hiking and working out. There’s no doubt in our minds that they definitely have the stamina for a high-energy set. Time to stretch—this one’s gonna get physical. (At SLS, 10:30 a.m., FoxtailLasVegas.com.) Not feelin’ the constant thump of EDM? Thankfully you can stick around when the Summer Live Concert Series continues at Foxtail with reggae singer/rapper Matisyahu. He’s best known for his 2005 hit, “King Without a Crown,” and for sporting a really, really awesome beard. Unfortunately, he decided to trim his locks for a cleaner, more sophisticated look, but he’s still giving the world some killer tunes. We can’t wait to kick back to the jangly guitar riff of “Sick for So Long” poolside. (At SLS, 7 p.m., FoxtailLasVegas.com.)

Sunday, July 12

DJ Pauly D hits Rehab for a pool party. He’s among the few in the world who are lucky enough to own a convertible Lamborghini Aventador. The former Jersey Shore star purchased a crisp white version of the luxury sports car in March. Since Afrojack owns one as well, we challenge the two to street race around the city. Either way, we suggest steering clear of the 15 when the two are in town at the same time. (At Hard Rock Hotel, 11 a.m., RehabLV.com.)

Monday, July 13

We’re huge fans of innovators and forward-thinkers in writing or music. Orange County’s Slander falls under this umbrella because the duo seamlessly blends two genres, trance and trap, in their music. They call it “heaven trap,” and if you take a listen, you’ll be able to pick out elements from the two, whether it’s the repeating melodic phrases or the lightning-fast hi-hats. Hear the fusion between sounds at XS. Oh, yeah, DJ superstar Diplo will be there as well. This Monday is looking Mad Decent. (In Encore, 10:30 p.m., XSLasVegas.com.)

Tuesday, July 14

It’s Tuesday, so that means it’s time to join DJs Exile and Sucio Downtown for Studio V. The weekly affair at Vanguard Lounge provides patrons with healthy doses of trap, house and techno, and they’re bound to bring the same flavor this week, with a few surprises thrown in, of course. Expect sets by local DJs alongside the two residents. With a party like this, who cares if it’s a weeknight? (516 Fremont St., 10 p.m., VanguardLV.com.)

Wednesday, July 15

If you’ve listened to any radio rap hit within the past two years, you’ve likely heard YG utter: “Mustard on the beat, oh!” before triumphant drops. That’s the tagline of DJ Mustard, who has produced a pretty large body of work since taking off with Tyga’s 2011 hit, “Rack City.” The infamous Los Angeles hit-maker returns to Light, where he’ll deliver a set chock-full of his signature “ratchet music.” Compliments and condiments aside, you’ll want to check this out. (In Mandalay Bay, 10:30 p.m., TheLightVegas.com.)
