The best piece of news I’ve reported in a very long time is that Kerry Simon is back in Las Vegas and doing the things he loves. The chef, who’s bravely battling the debilitating disease multiple systems atrophy (MSA), spent much of the summer on vacation. But on Saturday night he attended the Cheap Trick concert at Hard Rock Hotel. I wasn’t there, but I’m told that he was right up onstage with the band, the members of which are are longtime friends of his.

I’m also told Kerry is planning to attend the “Dinner His Way” event in his honor on September 9 at Made L.V. Participating chefs include Kerry’s Iron Chef teammate Kim Canteenwalla, former Simon Palms Place and Simon Telluride chef Ben Halley, former Cathouse chef Michael Van Staden, Jamal Taherzadeh of Simon Palms Place, Chris Vaughn of Kerry’s Hard Rock and Palms Place locales, Michelle Ortiz from Palms Place and Justin Nilson from Kerry’s Hard Rock Hotel and L.A. spots.

The menu, priced at $59 before tax and tip, includes the following:

Welcome Cocktail
Cotton Candy Martini

Passed Snacks
Iron Chef Sliders
Simon Crispy Rice
SSimon Says (it’s a surprise)

Endive Salad
Shaved pink lady apple, candied walnuts, watercress, white wine vinaigrette

Kerry’s Klassic Meatloaf
Bacon wrapped, BBQ glazed
Mashed Potatoes
Wild mushroom gravy
Peas & Carrots
Mint, golden raisins, cardamom glaze

The Simon Junkfood Platter
Hostess cupcakes
Cotton Candy
