Gather Las Vegas’ top bartenders and the world’s finest tequilas to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, and the rest of us are in for a treat at the seventh annual Margarita Competition at the Original Margarita Festival, presented by Tequila Herradura and Sonrisa Grill. The festivities will take place at Lake Las Vegas from 2-6 p.m. September 19. Sample unlimited handcrafted margaritas from no less than 20 teams of award-winning mixologists and vote for your favorite while enjoying authentic south-of-the-border fare and a live concert featuring Generation Band. Judges—including Vegas Seven’s own Xania Woodman, plus “Modern Mixologist” Tony Abou-Ganim, Wirtz Beverage Nevada’s Andrew Pollard and Cosmopolitan property mixologist Mariena Mercer (a past winner)—will challenge the top bartenders, who move on to the final Iron Margarita battle to vie for the top spot with his or her best creation—but not without a surprise special ingredient. A portion of festival proceeds benefits the United States Bartenders’ Guild Las Vegas chapter, a nonprofit organization. Tickets are $35 at the door and $30 in advance at Facebook.com/MargaritaFestival.
