In a state with the only legal form of prostitution and a town known as Sin City, there’s something comical about how much controversy there is about sex education in Nevada. The failure of bills seeking to unify the state’s 17 counties with one comprehensive curriculum at the last three legislative sessions, has left each county scrambling to update standards that haven’t been revised in years. Many consider the Clark County School District, the nation’s fifth largest, to be ground-zero for either holding the line or advancing much-needed change, depending on which side of the divide you fall.
