Twisted chignon, one of Baruk’s winter trends.

Master stylist Claude Baruk, who helms the salons at Wynn and Encore, recently unveiled his winter lookbook of coifs inspired by the Parisian Woman. He sits down with Vegas Seven and delves into the perfect pony, his must-have products for men and why bangs never go out of style.

If a woman is going for an up-do but doesn’t normally wear one, what do you recommend?

A simple classic ponytail—glossy and chic. Put the hair in a ponytail in the middle of the head then twist the hair around the ponytail into a nice chignon. This was the top look of my winter 2015 collection, the Parisian Woman.

How can you nurse damaged hair back to health in the winter? Is winter worse on hair than summer?

First, the daily use of nourishing serums on the ends of your hair is a must. Then use a quality hair mask treatment designed for your hair type once a week to assist with breakage and repair damage. I recommend in my salons a Caviar Ritual, 24k Gold Treatment or Pro-Fiber to give your hair the nourishment it needs to be shiny and stunning. Both winter and summer can damage your hair badly, so you must ensure to use quality shampoos, conditioners and treatments to keep your hair looking its best through any season.

What do you recommend are the three must-have products to take away for men from your salon? For men, Kerastase Capital Force Shampoo to revitalize their hair, our Clay Definer pomade by Shu Uemura to style without a greasy feel and Oil Free Moisturizer from our barber shop which will keep their skin hydrated and soft.

Bangs or no bangs in 2016?

Bangs! Forever! Bangs are a classic and chic look that, done properly, gives women strong and sexy personalities. This is personally my favorite look for women.
