Before it has even started, technology is becoming a big story for the Las Vegas Market furniture show.
This year organizers have stopped producing the traditional badges common to such conventions and trade shows. Instead, convention goers are receiving emails with QR codes to scan at check-in.
In addition, the furniture show is pushing participants to utilize their branded app, Las Vegas Market App (free for iPhone and Android users), which offers schedules, an exhibit directory, a market planner, and other features.
Venders are getting into the act, too. On Wednesday, Modway Furniture released an exclusive Pokemon Go guide that teaches furniture retailers how to capitalize on the game’s popularity to get interest in their brick-and-mortar stores. The free guide, which is available to those who stop by Modway’s exhibit space, explains how the game works and offers tips on how to create Pokestops, lures, and other features that are draws for gamers.
Modway Furniture spokeman Yonatan Gordon said the first-day response blew him away. “I can tell you that I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve never received a response like I have on this,” he said.
The show is set to start on Saturday, July 31 and going through Aug. 4. Registration is still open and available at lasvegasmarket.com.
