Two Under-the-Radar Parties to Check Out This Week

If you love electronic dance music, then you will do whatever it takes to find a great party, no matter the day of the week or where the event occurs. The most important thing is finding that special place where you can dance your ass off. Every Friday through Sunday, the weekend warriors come from far and wide to hear their favorite DJs. When the weekend is over, they go homeand the locals come out to play. Whether you are industry or just love dance music, Tuesdays are the new Saturdays, and here are two parties to check out.

Nov. 29, DJ Skull and Nathan Clement; Dec. 6, Donnie Lowe. 10 p.m., no cover. Downtown Cocktail Room, 111 S. Las Vegas Blvd.;;

Producers Eta Carina and Rafael Laguerre have been throwing Cymatic Sessions for more than two years. There’s nothing like a dimly lit room with a Funktion-One sound system—four-to-the-floor house music. Cymatic has brought in legends such as Danny Krivit (Body & Soul and 718 Sessions), Oscar G (Murk), DJ Skull and Mishale. This is a very intimate party filled with house-music purists.  The bartenders are tip-top—and they even serve absinthe.

10 p.m., no cover. Tacos & Beer, 3900 Paradise Rd.;

While EDM has become a mainstream sensation, techno has managed to stay underground. And MNTRA (Tino “Bad Beat” Gomez, Lance “Le Rock” Rodriguez, Pedro Flores & others) have figured out how to keep the underground alive by feeding fans tasty tacos and filling their ears with the best techno on the West Coast. Techno Taco Tuesdays is situated inside Tacos & Beer, and if you weren’t looking for it, you wouldn’t even know a dance party was happening. On any given Tuesday, a few hundred eclectic partygoers get down on the deck of the restaurant.  Once a month, around 600 people show up for their Techno Tent party. Great eats meet greater beats. On Nov. 28, the MNTRA team joins forces for a one-off event with Marquee Las Vegas to bring techno legend Richie Hawtin to the club’s Boom Box Room.
