It didn’t take long after chef and sommelier Bank Atcharawan departed from Chada Thai and Chada Street last fall to venture into something new. In recent months, he has teased his Facebook followers, suggesting a new project, and just this week a construction shot of his newest eating and drinking spot revealed The Patio Desserts & Drinks (5255 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 107; open 11 a.m.-1 a.m.). According to Atcharawan, it is slated to open sometime at the end of February, and guests will be able to indulge in specialty drinks, coffees, teas and sumptuous sweets. The self-proclaimed dessert addict plans to offer Thai rolled ice cream, Hong Kong waffles, honey toast, and a variety of house specialty desserts. “In my experience, whenever I serve a dessert course, people always smile,” Atcharawan says. “Now I’ll get to see people smile all the time.”
