A darling of Las Vegas’ culinary scene, chef Brian Howard made a splash with the modern French bistro Comme Ça in The Cosmopolitan, overseeing a team of the highest pedigree. Since his 2014 departure, we’ve followed his progress toward a long-awaited venture off-Strip.
On January 19, social media buzz leaked out about Howard’s newly signed lease on the former Jenni Pho space, a Vietnamese noodle house on a highly desirable Chinatown location near the corner of Spring Mountain and Arville roads. His new restaurant will be Sparrow + Wolf.
Recalling that Harvest & Larder and the Huntsman in Downtown’s Arts District were two projects that came short of fruition, details are still unavailable for Sparrow + Wolf, yet leaving us anticipating a hearty year for Howard, who commented, “It has been a long journey and [this is] only beginning.”
For the past 14 years, Howard has showcased his talents and earned accolades in Las Vegas and Los Angeles working for acclaimed chefs including Thomas Keller, Kerry Simon, André Rochat and, most recently, David Myers, for whom he served as corporate executive chef. He is also culinary advisor for Urban Seed, a local indoor aeroponic farming company. Originally hailing from Detroit, Howard worked at the city’s first four-diamond/four-star restaurant, The Lark.
