Seen Around Town: Diplo Welcomes the Raiders, Mark Wahlberg Receives Key to the City and More

Did you hear the news? We’re an NFL city now, and Las Vegans are wasting no time assimilating to Raider Nation. It’s a silver-and-black takeover in the city of neon.

The news was barely 12 hours old when the “XS Welcomes the Raiders to Las Vegas” banner was unveiled at Encore Las Vegas nightclub. Champagne servers dressed as Raiderettes (that’s a real word) raised their bottles and signs while presenting star DJ Diplo with his very own jersey.

Diplo grew up in Miami and got his career going in Philly, so we’re unsure if he’s going to conform, but what the hell, everyone loves presents.

If you wanted to see celebrities this week, you needed to be at Caesars Palace. The National Association of Theater Owners held its annual CinemaCon event, in which big-time stars – like “The Rock” big – attend screenings, showcase trailers and talk up the films they’ve got coming out this year.

The aforementioned “People’s Champion,” “The Great One,” “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was among the first celebs on the red carpet. “The Brahma Bull” was joined by his “Jumanji” castmates Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas.

Also on the red carpet Monday: Ryan Gosling, promoting his upcoming Blade Runner 2049.

Penn & Teller and Mark and Paul Wahlberg,

Mark Wahlberg can do it all. He does comedy with the teddy bear movies, he does the serious real-life dramas, he’s Dirk Diggler and he sells burgers on The Strip. On Tuesday, the “Patriot’s Day” star received the key to the city from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman while promoting his Wahlburgers restaurant at the Grand Bazaar Shops.

Wahlberg, along with his Transformers: The Last Knight co-stars Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, Isabela Moner and director Michael Bay, all made guest appearances on the CinemaCon red carpet Tuesday, as did Baywatch stars Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra and Kelly Rohrbacj, Cara Delevingne, Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and George Clooney.

Vanderpump Rules TV reality star Tom Sandoval

Meanwhile, over at the annual Nightclub and Bar Convention and Trade Show, a horde of guests swarmed the red carpet to get a glimpse of attending celebrities, including comedians Ron White and Alex Reymundo, “Vanderpump Rules” cast member Tom Sandoval and “Absinthe” star Melody Sweets.

Then things got really awesome, and we had a confirmed Wesley Snipes sighting in Las Vegas!

Nino Brown himself was in the crowd at Omnia Nightclub, where Kaskade was putting on a show for the convention crowds. Snipes was spotted in the VIP section with “Rush Hour” director Brett Ratner, with Flamingo headliner Keith Sweat nearby taking in the action with friends.

The really big guns came out at CinemaCon on Wednesday, with appearances by Justice League stars Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ezra Miller (Flash), Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman). Director Zack Snyder also took the stage for the presentation, which included new footage but not a full screening.

Some lucky CinemaCon-goers and journalists did get a surprise screening of Universal’s upcoming The Fate of the Furious. Director F Gary Gray was joined onstage by most of the main cast, including Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Kurt Russell and new villain Charlize Theron.

Also making CinemaCon appearances: Dunkirk director Christopher Nolan and King Arthur star Charlie Hunnam.

Instagram Sighting: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne, posting a photo of herself and a young gentleman outside of Absinthe.

Looking Ahead

As the CinemaCon stars head out of town, new stars are moving in, temporarily. The upcoming calendar includes the Academy of Country Music Awards at T-Mobile Arena, Limp Bizkit and Method Man at Drai’s and Mark McGrath at LAX.

It’s gonna be just like the ’90s, with cowboy hats.
