Current Hakkasan Group president and COO Nick McCabe has been named the company’s new CEO following the resignation of Neil Moffitt.
“I couldn’t be more proud to take on the challenge of leading the company that I’ve been both a fan of, and then a part of, for the past six years,” McCabe said in a statement released Monday. “While it’s a bittersweet time due to the departure of my mentor Neil Moffitt, I hope that I can continue the amazing work that was done by him to bring the company to where it is today. I also look forward to working alongside Sam Nazarian and the SBE team in an organization that promises to be the most exciting hospitality company in the world.”
His first order of business will be to lead Hakkasan Group in its proposed merger with SBE, the news of which broke last month, and continue to navigate a trajectory, both domestically and abroad, which will see growth from 60 to 72 venues across four continents with forthcoming openings in Waikiki, Jakarta, Bali, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
Hakkasan Group Chairman Khalifa Bin Butti touts McCabe for a vast knowledge of the hospitality industry, for his being on the “cutting edge of new technological developments and an international vision.”
McCabe joined Hakkasan Group in 2013 during its acquisition of Neil Moffitt’s Angel Management Group. Before that, he began his career in Miami where he launched the nightlife and lifestyle website CoolJunkie.com; was a partner and chief creative officer of Track Entertainment overseeing projects for brands, including Pepsi, Bacardi, T-Mobile, Aquafina and Sierra Mist, while also assisting in the development of various entertainment websites; and created a series of extremely popular ‘B-Live’ music festivals for Bacardi, which led to the formation of his company The Big Idea in 2007.
