There are A-list celebrities. There are B-list celebrities. There are C- and D-list celebrities, and so on, and so on, all the way down to Scott Baio and that guy who sang the “Pants on the Ground” song.
Las Vegas did all right this weekend, a good mix of As and Bs.
Those Journey guys are getting comfortable in Las Vegas. Following Thursday’s concert at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, drummer Steve Smith was spotted having dinner at Wynn Las Vegas’ La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway. Smith and friends dined on crab ravioli with ricotta, arugula and tomatoes; warm salt-roasted beets with whipped goat cheese and pistachio; and sea bass with enoki mushroom and carrot ginger puree.
By the way, on Thursday night we ate pretzel thins and that Mediterranean hummus from Trader Joe’s. It was excellent.
Later Thursday evening, bazillionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban swung through Wynn’s Intrigue Nightclub, where he was seen taking in DJ Chuckie’s set.
And this one’s a surprise: Academy Award-winner Sean Penn showed up and hung around Intrigue’s social media-free VIP room, The Living Room.
Also spotted inside the club: English footballer Aaron Wilbraham.
Top Chef Masters star Lorena Garcia opened her long-awaited Chica restaurant at The Venetian on Friday night. Among the notable names in attendance: former American Idol judge Randy Jackson and Pretty Little Liars and Teen Wolf star Cody Allen Christian.
Christian was also spotted at LAVO, where he and a group of friends dined on the one-pound meatball, charred octopus, the salumi-formaggi platter, a New York strip and more.
Also at The Venetian on Friday night: Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, hanging out at TAO Nightclub.
Meanwhile, over at XS Las Vegas, the crowd that came for The Chainsmokers got an extra special treat when David Guetta jumped on stage. Guetta is set to headline at the club on May 20, as part of XS’ 8-year anniversary celebration.
Britney Spears is surrounded by hysterical, screaming fans whenever she performs at Planet Hollywood’s The Axis. If you’ve seen the show, you know what we’re talking about.
Now picture that screaming … multiplied by Taylor Lautner. That’s the decibel level achieved on Saturday night when the Twilight star showed up to Britney’s show with girlfriend Billie Lourd.
And you better believe every single person in that theater tried to get a picture. Just search “Taylor Lautner” on Twitter or Instagram and you’ll find a million blurry shots of him (or the back of his head) watching the show.
The only good pic wasn’t even taken in the theater. It’s from Lautner’s Instagram, where he’s performing a very dangerous move on a balcony at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Prior to the show, Lautner and Lourd were spotted having dinner at Hakkasan Las Vegas restaurant inside MGM Grand.
And, at Hakkasan Nightclub later that evening: actor Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), who was celebrating a friend’s birthday in the club’s Sky Boxes while Tiësto played to the crowd.
Meanwhile, Christian decided to stick around The Venetian, and he must really love TAO. The actor was seen at TAO Beach on Saturday morning, he had dinner that night at TAO Asian Bistro and then went up to party at the nightclub.
Beauty pageants are still a thing, and Las Vegas is still an enabler.
Mandalay Bay welcomed the Miss USA 2017 competition on Sunday night, with actress Julianne Hough and former 106 & Park co-host Terrence J as emcees.
While we were pulling for Miss Nevada Lauren York, she didn’t make the cut.
