The Space, an arts hub created by Las Vegas entertainer and philanthropist Mark Shunock, is extending their audition process for their first six-week summer youth program, Kids in The Space. The rigorous course allows students to work and study their passion for the arts, as well as learn from performers and teachers, such as local entertainer Charlene Carabeo from Peepshow and Fantasy.
From now until June 12, kids ages 8-18 may audition by appointment to take part in the summer workshop. Ideal for anyone passionate about singing, dancing or acting, the audition process includes performing a pre-selected song or singing “Happy Birthday,” reading a piece chosen by the instructors and learning a short movement combination.
Classes take place three days a week and run June 13 through July 22. Youth theater mentor Todd Hart, whose résumé includes the likes of Mitch Grassi and Kirstin Maldonado from Grammy award-winning acapella group Pentatonix and Jennifer Stone from Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, leads the workshop. The focus is to help students perfect their craft, in hopes of elevating their talents to the next level.
Aside from the kids summer program, The Space offers a performance venue for various productions, including a black box theater as well as rehearsal studios, recording studios and a vintage piano bar and lounge.
