In the everlasting game of one-upsmanship that is Las Vegas nightlife, there are few loyalties.
But there are also no hard feelings. Artists come and go, and come again.
Four years after Afrojack left Wynn Nightlife for a Hakkasan Group residency, the Dutch DJ/producer is headed back toward the north end of the Strip, where he’ll make that “Dirty Sexy Money” rain at XS Las Vegas and Encore Beach Club.
“I have so many great memories performing there and can’t wait to make new ones. It’s true what they say: There’s no place like home!” Afrojack says in the announcement.
The terms of the one-year deal haven’t been disclosed, but Afrojack is already tapped to perform his first show of the year at XS on Friday, January 26, a date that lands in between scheduled gigs in France and South Africa.
The man travels. A lot.
He also makes hits, and dropped a number of noteworthy singles this year, including “No Tomorrow,” the aforementioned “Dirty Sexy Money” (with Charlie XCX and fellow Wynn headliner David Guetta) and most recently a collab with Dubvision titled “New Memories.”
Swiping Afrojack from the competition (even for just a year) further shows Wynn Nightlife’s commitment to electronic dance music as it works to shore up its 2018 talent roster.
Earlier this month, Swedish DJ Alesso extended his residency through 2019, and Wynn re-upped Diplo’s deal in October, keeping their longest-tenured headliner (and No. 6 on Forbes’ list of highest paid DJs) around for two more years.
On top of those deals, The Chainsmokers are entering the second year of their three-year residency with the hospitality group.
With a new year less than two weeks away, we expect more announcements in the works.
