Dayclubs Put Out Casting Calls as Pool Season Looms

Is your beach bod ready? The clock is ticking

Raise your hand if your Instagram feed lately has been a mix of “Bomb Cyclone” shots from the East Coast and bikini girls holding up “Help Wanted” signs.

While your relatives and college friends are huddling for warmth, your neighbors are sweating it out in the gym as they ready for the post-holiday hiring surge at Las Vegas Strip dayclubs.

Check the calendar—we’re less than two months away from the start of pool season. No kidding. Take Drai’s Beach Club—the doors swing open March 2, with waves of sun-deprived tourists eager to soak in the rays from the roof of The Cromwell.

General manager Suzanne Smith, who’s heading into her third year at the helm, is putting together a team of 200 employees—from servers to security—for the new season. With its rooftop views and DJ lineup (Shelco Garcia & Teenwolf kick things off this year), Drai’s practically sells itself as a destination workplace for eager applicants.

But what does it take to don the Drai’s swimsuit for a season?

“First and foremost, we’re looking for personality,” according to Smith. “We need somebody who can absorb the spirit of the venue.”

Hopefuls come prepared with résumés and headshots, and have just a brief moment to make an impression on hiring managers. Smith says she’s looking to “see a spark” of personality, and lest you think prior experience is necessary, that’s not the case.

“We’re open to anybody,” she says.

When you take a break from your workout, here’s a list of who’s hiring for pool season.

Dayclub casting calls aren’t much different than what you see outside the club on any given night: long lines of beautiful people dressed in less. Mandalay Bay’s DAYLIGHT is offering applicants the chance to pick up a “fast pass” if they stop by The LIGHT nightclub for Rick Ross’ performance on January 10. The DAYLIGHT casting call is Friday, January 12, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Saturday, January 13, from noon to 5 p.m. Audition and “fast pass” details can be found on The LIGHT website.

Drai’s Beachclub

Auditions for Drai’s Beachclub are 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, and Monday, January 8. A list of available positions and more information can be found at the club’s website.

M Pool and DayDream Pool Club

The M Resort will hold casting calls January 19-20, and February 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Messina meeting rooms on the spa level. You’re encouraged to apply online beforehand. The interview times are:

  • 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cocktail Server
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other positions

The resort is hiring for: Lead Lifeguard, Lifeguard, Model Bar Back, Model Bartender, Model Cocktail Server, Model Food Runner, Pool Attendant, Pool Security Officer, Supervisor, and VIP Host.

Marquee Dayclub

The Cosmopolitan’s Marquee Dayclub is also looking to re-create those summer vibes for prospective employees. Its January 18 Pool Hiring Party at The Chelsea will feature DJ Pharoah, dancers, “mocktails” and finger foods from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Additional hiring will be held January 25–27 and January 31 through February 3 from noon to 5 p.m. inside The Venetian’s TAO Nightclub.

The Hard Rock’s groundbreaking pool party is back for its 15th season in 2018, and putting out a casting call for all positions, including promotional models, VIP hosts, model bar backs, and model bartenders. Rehab is hosting casting calls on January 15 and 16, and February 5 and 6. Call 702-693-5505 or check out the dayclub’s website for details.

TAO Beach

Last season, TAO’s risqué role-playing beach bash turned 10, and the 11th edition should prove to be just as adventurous (for guests and employees). TAO Beach is holding interviews January 25–27 and January 31–February 3 from noon to 5 p.m. all days at TAO Nightclub. Cocktail servers, cooks, graphic designers, photographers and promoters are among the positions to be filled.

Tropicana Las Vegas

Hiring events for the Tropicana will be held January 18 and February 16 inside the Havana Room, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. The casting call breaks down like this:

  •  10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cocktail Servers
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other positions
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cocktail Servers
If you’re applying for a cocktail server position, a swimsuit is required for the interview.

Wet Republic & Liquid

Hakkasan Group’s casting call for model cocktail servers at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic and ARIA’s Liquid pools is January 6–7 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. The pools hope to fill the remaining open positions during a January 8–12 hiring event (11 a.m.–5 p.m. each day). You can save time during the interview process by applying online at Hakkasan’s careers website.
