Breaking Down Hakkasan Group’s 2018 Residency Roster

Lil Uzi Vert joins the club and rising stars get their turn in the spotlight.

Hakkasan Group is injecting some hip-hop into its EDM-heavy lineup.

The hospitality powerhouse released its much anticipated 2018 residency roster, a list 30 deep that has “Money Longer” artist Lil Uzi Vert joining the likes of returning heavy hitters Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Tiësto and Zedd.

Mr. Vert (Symere Woods to his friends) is set to make his debut at Aria’s Jewel Nightclub on Saturday, February 3 and, like the rest of the roster, will rotate performances between Hakkasan Group’s largest Las Vegas venues, including its namesake club and Wet Republic pool at MGM Grand, and Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace.

While the addition of Lil Uzi Vert is not Hakkasan’s first foray into “live” acts—returning residents Cash Cash are noted for playing live instruments during their sets—it signals the company’s willingness to dabble in live hip-hop, a format that’s fully entrenched in rival clubs such as Drai’s and Mandalay Bay’s The Light.

Lil Uzi Vert has also found success crossing genres to work with other artists (he and Aoki dropped “Smoke My Dope” on December’s Bright soundtrack), so his Hakkasan deal raises the possibility of some special guest appearances and collabs in the coming months.

Prospects Earning Big-League Call-ups

Hakkasan Group’s 2018 roster is notable for the number of support artists and rising stars getting their shot at headliner status.

Among the group: 20-year-old wunderkind Crankdat, who dropped his latest, “Reasons to Run,” this month and is in the middle of his North American Outcast Tour that runs through early March. His 2018 Las Vegas debut date hasn’t been announced.

Others who will get more exposure as Hakkasan Group headliners this year: Elephante (“Come Back for You”), Generik (“So High”).

Don’t be confused when you see Brody Jenner’s face on a Hakkasan billboard. The reality television veteran is not there for a red carpet appearance. Jenner, 34, has built a solid reputation as a DJ over the years and will get a bigger stage as a member of Hakkasan Group in 2018.DJ
