We’ve all heard of bed-and-breakfast deals, but how about a bed-and-beer deal? Did I get your attention? Downtown Grand’s Bed & Brewski package—which it claims is the first ever offered in Las Vegas—is a partnership with nearby Tenaya Creek Brewery, located about a mile from the hotel at 831 West Bonanza Rd. The deal includes a six-pack of your chosen Tenaya Creek beer upon check-in; a private tour of the brewery with a choice of a five-beer sampler or pint; and 25 percent off additional Tenaya Creek beers at the brewery and at Downtown Grand’s Freedom Beat, Triple George Grill and the Citrus Grand Pool Deck during your stay. Packages start at $221 per room for a minimum two-night stay; guests must be at least 21 years of age and transportation to and from the brewery is not included.
While you are Downtown, if you are up for something stronger than beer, head over to Park on Fremont, which is offering a specialty menu of two bourbon flights and one rye flight. The name of each flight of three 1-ounce pours has a “flying” reference and was selected based on aroma, palate and finish (the descriptions of which are noted on the menu). The Smooth Flight ($32) includes Angel’s Envy, Woodford Reserve and Basil Hayden’s. The Puddle Jumper ($29), named for a small plane/small-batch flight, includes Four Roses, 1792 and Col. E.H. Taylor. And The Rye & Fly Flight ($27) includes Bulleit Rye, High West Double Rye and Templeton Rye. The flights were selected by Park on Fremont lead bartender Douglas Linton, with help from fellow bartender Natalie Braun and Anthony Partridge from The Laundry Room across the street. Linton explains the bourbons in the Smooth Flight are somewhat similar in style and popularity, but different in character, and those in the Puddle Jumper and Rye & Fly flights, consisting of small-batch bourbons and ryes that are well known, are also all different in character.
The Golden Knights have taken this city by storm, and local pubs are getting in on promoting the team and giving fans a reason to watch the game or support the team at their establishments. Here are two: one for away games and one for games played at T-Mobile Arena.
If you don’t mind donning distinctive attire, head to The Still in The Mirage, where anyone wearing Knights gear during an away game will receive a complimentary draft beer. And to spur you on to robustly cheer for the local team, you’ll get a free shot after every Knights goal scored.
At Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery (located on Koval Lane, behind Bally’s), you can snag an Ellis Island beer for a buck before they drop the puck, two hours before every Knights home game and until the final horn sounds, as well as $6 “Slapshots”: an Ellis Island microbrew with a shot of Absolut, Jack Daniel’s or Fireball. The aforementioned specials will be valid until the Golden Knights’ inaugural season ends.
