Even with day and nightclub season underway in Las Vegas, Wynn Nightlife is still filling out its talent roster, signing Jon George, James Hunt and Tyrone Lindqvist—the Australian trio collectively known as Rüfüs Du Sol—to an exclusive DJ residency that will see them perform at Encore Beach Club’s “Nightswim” parties.
Rüfüs is set to perform June 9, July 7 and October 5. The summer dates are scheduled during breaks in the group’s North American tour, which includes stops at the Bonnaroo and Electric Forest festivals.
“As producers who tour and perform as a live band, we don’t often get the chance to DJ in big rooms and push that element of what we do because we’re so focused on touring the full band show,” says Hunt in the announcement.
Hunt adds that the group was influenced by DJ culture, having started out playing in clubs. Rüfüs’ 2013 debut, Atlas, hit No. 1 in Australia and produced memorable singles such as “Sundream” and “Take Me.” They followed up that first album with 2016’s Bloom, which also hit No. 1 in their homeland.
While this won’t be Rüfüs’ first spin through Las Vegas—they performed at 2017’s Electric Daisy Carnival— this will be their first residency, expanding their global audience.
Rüfüs’ sound is rooted in house and alternative dance, as opposed to “When will the bass drop?” EDM. Their presence, alongside previously announced house DJs Black Coffee and Solomun, gives Wynn a chance to test another new flavor in the market while programming three venues—XS, Intrigue and EBC “Nightswim”—on busy weekends.
Rüfüs makes its “Nightswim” debut on Saturday, June 9. Tickets can be purchased via the Wynn Nightlife website.
