Leaving Home

Longtime Las Vegas artist and UNLV prof Mary Warner may be moving to Sacramento, Calif., but she’s leaving with a serious bang. Coming off the strength of last month’s vibrant, botanical-themed Heavy Petal show at Trifecta Gallery, Warner weighs in on the housing bust with new works in Dreamhouse, a group exhibit that also features artist Mark Brandvik and sculptor Emily Kennerk. Warner’s untitled painting of a castle built upon a detached cliff (pictured) will stir your imagination even as it reminds you that domestic structures are undeniably alluring, that their idealization is never easy to shrug off. This might be a last chance to see a local show involving Warner, who for years played a significant role in constructing the arts in Las Vegas.

Dreamhouse at Winchester Cultural Center (3130 S. McLeod Drive), April 6-June 1, artist reception 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 13.
