(R) ★★☆☆☆
Adapted from Seth Grahame-Smith’s (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) novel, which is more fun, this portrays Honest Abe (Benjamin Walker) as a rail-splitting enemy of the vampires who killed his mother. The story also turns the Civil War into a battle between the humans of the North and the bloodsuckers from the Confederacy. It’s a little fun. But the director is sloppy and far too in love with slo-mo kill shots. A splattery diversion and not much more.
