Our WeNDOH Media teammate is a 1998 graduate of Lex Luthor University, where he majored in Mad Science with a minor in evil Business Administration. He has since been a nonstop disappointment to his mother by failing to put that education to work, and instead taken up residence as editor of DailyFiasco.com. Although he still maintains a hobbyist’s interest in devising a chemical formula that when slipped into their respective water supplies will bring both Metropolis and Gotham City to their knees, he spends most of his time curating Fiasco, which he describes as “Las Vegas’ drinkingest, fightingest and handsomest nightlife, entertainment and gossip blog.”

Nelly takes over Tao for birthday

Aww, Nelly has a friend. The St. Lunatic was in town to celebrate his 37th birthday when he ran into overpaid, underperforming Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford at Marquee’s Boom Box Room on Nov. 11 at the next table over. Apparently Crawford got in the birthday spirit because he sent over a magnum of Ace of Spades Rosé.

Studio 54 at MGM Grand has endured, however, while contemporary after contemporary fell by the wayside. Since its grand opening on New Year’s Eve 1997 (and a soft opening that November), 54 has held on for 14 years. Or, seven Christian Audigier the Nightclubs, if you prefer. But it looks like that time is drawing to a close.

It puts the lotion in the trick-or-treat basket

Somewhere, Buffalo Bill is smiling. It was the ideal Halloween for the Silence of the Lambs serial killer, because he didn’t have to do any work at all to separate Heidi Klum from her skin. The model and all-around Halloween lunatic took care of that herself when she was rolled into Tao on a gurney Oct. 29.

Steamed!

From its humble roots in science fiction, Steampunk brings a new vision of old technology to the Las Vegas art scene

Nikola Tesla has a posse. The father of alternating current, the induction motor and, quite possibly, the death ray is the most finely realized specimen of mad science who’s ever had the courtesy to leap out of the pages of the pulps and into real life. He also stands, alongside Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, as the spiritual totem of Steampunk, the genre that marries science fiction to Victorian convention. It’s kind of a reimagining of the whiz-bang Jet Age spirit of adventure and scientific can-do through the lens of Industrial Revolution technology.
