In the first three months of 2010, Southern Nevada got twice the rain that fell in all of 2009. Now we can enjoy one benefit of all that precipitation: wildflowers. Yellow wooly daisies; showy four o’clocks with magenta, funnel-shaped blooms; blue phacelias with bell-shaped blooms; and desert dandelions with bright yellow blossoms—which are much prettier than their cousins that infest our lawns—are popping up everywhere.

Nu Eatery Lights Up

There’s a new tenant in Town Square: Nu Sanctuary Lounge opened its doors May 4 across from The Grape near Rave theaters. The restaurant and bar boasts a crystal garden, water features and sliding-glass walls, yet the centerpiece is the so-called “Tree of Life,” a 9-foot LED-covered sculpture with branches extending up across the ceiling and roots sinking down into the floor.
