Melissa Petersen

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhen the two-decade-old, volunteer-run Contemporary Arts Center announced earlier this year that it was shutting down, Petersen—a go-getter who once interned with Harry Reid and served on the board of the Neon Museum—stepped up. Within a month, she had assembled a new volunteer CAC board and began planning fundraisers and gallery shows. The CAC’s best days may be ahead of it, thanks to this devoted supporter of the art scene.
