Tucked away behind a recreation center, a swimming pool, an archery range and a network of nature trails, the City of Henderson’s nine free, lighted courts at the foot of Whitney Mesa rival any public tennis facility in the Valley. (The exception is the Darling Tennis Center in the northwest, which offers a true club experience but charges court fees.) Shaded viewing areas weave among the courts; a “stadium” court with concrete bleachers is available for tournament play; and there’s even a barbecue area. For those looking to cover less ground, the facility has four paddle-tennis courts. And for those looking to cover more, there are those spectacular trails up the Mesa, offering a bird’s-eye view of the action below. 1661 Galleria Dr., Henderson, 702-267-5700.
