Human trafficking is a serious problem in Southern Nevada, with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department recovering 107 victimized children in 2014. Vegas PBS’ Women’s Engagement Council has partnered with the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force to build community engagement through screenings and discussions of national documentaries on this subject. The Council generates awareness by streaming media online, airing television programs about human trafficking and educating students in classrooms. It’s no wonder that during Human Trafficking Awareness Month in January, more than 24,000 people in Southern Nevada tuned into PBS to view the documentaries Surviving Sin City and Trafficked No More.
