Founded in 1943—10 years before the City of Henderson officially incorporated—Henderson Libraries has been a go-to community organization for more than seven decades. With four libraries and a wealth of services and activities, it’s become a destination for more than just preschool story time (although that’s good, too). The second annual Henderson Libraries Mini Con earlier this year hosted local artists, cosplay and panels featuring local comic book publishers. In January, the organization launched a series of writers’ workshops that will lead to selected writers getting their works published in Kindle format by Amazon.com. A $10,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts funded the project. HendersonLibraries.com.
