Best Local Band

All-Night Visitors

Lynsey Cook

It’s tough being a local band in any city but especially in Las Vegas, where the scene is small and it’s rare to find other acts to tour with. But All-Night Visitors have kept things afloat. While the indie group has played only a handful of shows this year, they released their EP, People Places Things, in late April. Frontman Walker Rose said the musicians were pushing to be more experimental with songwriting and sound, mashing up garage with other genres while incorporating brass and keys under Rose’s raspy Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen–esque vocals. The whimsical arrangements of various styles combined with theatrical storytelling lyricism are what make the band stand out. Their latest music video for “Animal Mind” was released in late June, but expect to hear more from All-Night Visitors next year, when they plan to release their second LP.
