Best New Rapper to Hit the Scene

Mike Xavier

When Mike Xavier raps “If you’re stressin’ payin’ bills and that rent’s due / remember this ain’t even half of what you’ve been through” on “Sunshine,” he isn’t talking to listeners so much as he is to himself. Just months before writing that song, the single father was homeless and living in a car. He’s since moved from his native Los Angeles to Las Vegas and got an apartment, but it’s the struggles of his past and love for his son that keep him focused. “I just want to do great things, and I want my son to see that he can do anything he wants to do with his life,” Xavier says. And though he’s been rapping since he was 16, the 33-year-old has only recently started giving his music a serious push. “I make music for a number of reasons, but one is to show people it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.” mikexaviermusic.com
