University Forum Lecture: Ferguson, Baltimore, Charlotte & Other Ghost Stories

February 27 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The College of Liberal Arts’ University Forum lecture series presents Ferguson, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Other Ghost Stories a talk by Richard Gilman-Opalsky, associate professor, University of Illinois, Springfield.

Dr. Gilman-Opalsky explores revolt as a form of politics and philosophy by unconventional means. Every society is haunted by the possibility of revolt against it, especially societies with long histories of exclusion, violence and exploitation. Recent protests in the U.S. demonstrate how present uprisings can take up the unfinished business of past ones.
