"Gnot The Proper Gnomenclature" at Las Vegas City Hall
The public is invited to enjoy Gnot The Proper Gnomenclature, two whimsical garden gnome sculptures on display on the second-floor outside patio at Las Vegas City Hall. The giant gnomes are available for viewing, photos and videos during regular City Hall hours, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., closed holidays. Visitors can share their visit to the sculptures and become a part of the growing online Las Vegas Gnomes Project community by sending their pictures with the sculptures to "Our Las Vegas," the Las Vegas Arts Commission’s online public art project found at http://ourlasvegas.wordpress.com/. City Hall is located at 495 S. Main St.
A sculpture garden project by Las Vegas artist Jesse Smigel, “Gnot The Proper Gnomenclature” features one reclining lawn gnome, approximately 9 feet long, and a second standing gnome 9 feet tall. Carved from dense foam, the gnomes are hard-coated, painted and sealed. While the artworks are durable, they are not permanent outdoor fixtures. For everyone’s safety, visitors are asked not to climb or sit on the sculptures. As gnomes are “gnown” to travel, the sculptures will remain on display until Jan 17, 2013, and then move to a new location.
Date: Monday, Nov. 5 - 7 am
Venue: Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St.
